Databasing, Security, and Data Entry on The Holiday Ferret

The backend functionality is coming together nicely for Ferret.  Many security issues from the old site have been addressed, and database controllers have been implemented to make retrieving information much faster.  The mammoth task of imputing data locations around the world is the next phase in the project and this is promising to be a long and arduous endeavor.  The results of the effort however, will simply make The Holiday Ferret a much better site to use from all types of user perspective.

The Redesign Moves Into a New Phase

The Holiday Ferret’s redesign has just entered a new phase.  Graphic work for the pages has begun, and Phil Wood (Technical Director) has expressed that the work is very challenging to say the least.  Phil has taken some risks with the design, dispensing with Photoshop drawings and switching to blocks of colour.  This has worked in the preliminary stages and we are hoping to provide further updates together with pictures soon.

The Holiday Ferret Begins to Take Shape

As the controllers are almost complete, work on the basic design of The Ferret will begin.  Phil has in – built many security features, and the databasing is sharp and focused.  The basic design will form the feel of the site, and for a holiday rentals site will be somewhat of a departure than the standard fair that is kicking around at the moment.  Once this is complete the framework for the rest of the site will begin.  So:

It’s beginning to get serious.

The New Logo Approved

The logo has been approved and is adopted.  No surprise as it is a class job.

A New Logo Has Arrived

It still needs final approval, but the new logo is simply looking incredible.  It is in my opinion a much improved logo from what we had previously, and the logo gives the site a seriousness that arguably it lacked before.  Take a look and see what you think.

More News on the Redesign

Now the Ferret redesign is well underway with many of the databasing and other back office functions taking shape, the design of the front – end has begun.  Phil has currently created a content management system for adding photos and deleting photos together with descriptions.  The site will feature a lightbox display for pictures together with detailed property descriptions.  The content management system is very easy to use.

More updates as they happen.

The Holiday Ferret looks for ways to promote a property

As our redesign advances at a good pace, our team often discusses what property owners want from a Worldwide property rental site.  The answer of course, is exposure.  To this end, the new site will have new and innovative ways to promote a property and generate interest in it.  The marketing appears solid for this, and the ground work to make the most of the project is in place.

Though the finer points of the project are to be worked out, generating exposure will likely take the form of an optional extra.

More details as they occur.

The Holiday Ferret to relaunch soon.

Since the worldwide holiday rentals site, The Holiday Ferret was hacked last month, much work has gone into the new redesign.  The site is as you read these words being reconstructed, and every detail from account types to how the pictures are going to look has been discussed to the nth degree.  The new site, will have many features aimed at promoting a property, to give it maximum exposure to the public.

More details of these to follow.
